Each section consists of 30 questions. The total duration of the exam is 140 minutes or 2 hours 20 minutes. The sections are time bound for 70 minutes each. After the first 70 minutes, the section will automatically change to the second section. After the next 70 minutes, the CAT 2013 exam will end.

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Higher Maths, Trigonometry and Modern Maths will be a part of the Quantitative Ability part. TheData Interpretation part will have the questions on Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Line Graph, caselets etc.
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning: The Verbal Ability part contains Reading Comprehension passages and English Usage questions. The English Usage questions are on basic grammar and vocabulary like Sentence Correction, Para Jumble, Para Completion, Fill in the blanks, Word Usage etc. The Logical Reasoning questions are on Data Arrangement, Seating Arrangement, Logic based puzzles etc.
