CAT Application Details

  • Candidates have to visit the official website to register by filling up personal information like name, date of birth, email address, country and mobile number.
  • Enter the captcha and click on ‘I Agree’ check box.
  • You will receive the login credentials – Login ID and Password through SMS and Email.
  • Login to the website by clicking on ‘Existing User’ tab.
  • Fill up the form with sections like Personal Details, Academics, Work Experience, Programmes.
  • Upload recent passport size photograph and signature in .jpg or .jpeg format, not exceeding 80 KB in the given dimensions, 35mm x 45mm for photograph and 80mm x 35mm for the signature.
  • NC-OBC/SC/ST/PWD-DA category candidates have to upload requisite attested certificates.
  • Select the IIM and programmes for admission.
  • Select any four test cities in terms of preference.

CAT Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Abled (DA) category) awarded by any recognized University or institute.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if she/he submits a certificate within the stipulated date.

CAT Counselling Details

  • Candidates are shortlisted by IIMs and other participating institutes on the basis of CAT Cutoff. Some IIMs also consider past academic performance, work experience etc.
  • The shortlisted candidates have to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT)/Group Discussion (GD)/Group Activity (GA)/Extempore Activities and Personal Interview rounds.
  • Final selection is made on the basis of the cumulative scores of CAT, WAT/GD-PI rounds and other factors like overall candidate profile including past academic records, work experience, extracurricular activities, gender and academic diversity.
  • Older IIMs and non-IIM B-schools conduct separate selection procedure in multiple locations.
  • The new IIMs conduct Common Admission Process (CAP) where WAT-PI rounds are conducted by the selection committee of the new IIMs. IIMs declare separate shortlists and final selection list but the selection process is common.
