All About Public Relations and Advertising
Advertising and Public Relations (PR) is a specialised field of study under Mass Communication and can be pursued at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Advertising refers to the marketing of a product or service in a manner that the audiences are convinced enough to buy the said product or service while PR is the process of providing information to the public to present a specific view of either an organisation, person or a product. PR can be considered as a more comprehensive way of shaping public opinion. Although both Advertising and Public Relations are a part of Mass Communication, they both differ in terms of message delivery and connection with the audience. The responsibilities of a PR professional are also markedly different from that of advertising professionals.
